The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Regarding Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
