According to new allegations from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for consideration by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided information indicating Maxwell is working on the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with document preparation and submission to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the clemency request remain unclear, Raskin added.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the supervisor has individually organized private meetings for her and her guests.

The visits allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and potential for unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, Maxwell was provided directions about instructing her associates to call and how personnel would relay the call to her.

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she reportedly employed the warden as her private aide.

The statement indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the warden, who would hand them over to the inmate, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the warden to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Further perks allegedly granted to her include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Through a spokesperson, the presidential office said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“As President Trump has stated, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson noted.

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

This past summer, Maxwell was transferred from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most detainees are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's private attorney.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own connections to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in that year while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, Raskin also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also posed three questions to Trump.

Raskin asked whether he had discussed a possible clemency for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to arrange Maxwell with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, relatives or agents have made any promises to Trump or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a response to the inquiries by 24 November.

Last month, the nation's highest court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
